Phys.org has reported:

Physicists at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s Grainger College of Engineering identified a new form of superconducting behaviour through experiments on uranium ditelluride. The metal’s Cooper pairs, composite electron units responsible for superconductivity, can organize into nonuniform patterns.

These patterns, known as pair density waves, exist above the superconducting critical temperature, even when the main superconducting phase is absent.
