Alberta RCMP’s major crimes unit is investigating the homicide of a 42-year-old man found dead at a rural property north of Boyle on Sept. 28. Officers responded after receiving a report of a deceased man, and police ruled the manner of death a homicide. The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrest has been made.

Mounties also responded on Sept. 30 to a report of a sudden death north of Boyle. Police say that death is unrelated to the Sept. 28 homicide and was non-criminal in nature. The two reports involved separate incidents.

Alberta RCMP believe the homicide was isolated and say there is no future risk to the general public. Investigators are asking anyone with information about the Sept. 28 death to contact Boyle RCMP at 780-689-3622. The sources did not provide a suspect description or further details about the investigation.

Boyle is northeast of Edmonton. The Edmonton Journal reported it is roughly 144 kilometres from the city, while CTV News Edmonton described it as about 150 kilometres north of Edmonton. Both accounts place the property north of Boyle, Alta.

The Edmonton Journal also listed two unrelated stories: an ASIRT investigation after a man died following an encounter with RCMP officers in Whitecourt, and a first-degree murder charge laid in a 2023 northern Alberta homicide.
