A train stopped on the tracks at 75 Street south of Argyll Road, closing the intersection in all directions and blocking vehicle traffic in southeast Edmonton. The Edmonton Police Service asked drivers to take alternate routes in a media release issued Friday morning.
The train had not appeared to derail and remained stopped on the tracks. Railway staff were at the scene and were seen inspecting the wheels of the 25-car train.
CTV News Edmonton said it had contacted Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) for more information. No further details about why the train stopped or when the intersection might reopen were included in the report.
The report included files from CTV News Edmonton’s Sean McClune.
