Mercedes has unveiled a special livery for this weekend’s race at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, where Formula 1 is returning for the first time since 2017. The design highlights Petronas, the team’s title sponsor since Mercedes returned to Formula 1 in 2010.
The team previously used a similar one-off livery at the Singapore Grand Prix in 2024. The report did not specify when Mercedes revealed the new design beyond its publication date, Sept. 30, 2026.
The RaceFans report was written by Keith Collantine and published at 8:45 a.m. on Sept. 30, with an update at 8:47 a.m. Collantine, a lifelong motor sport fan, established RaceFans in 2005, when the site was originally called F1 Fanatic. He had previously worked as a motoring journalist and began running the site full-time in 2010, fulfilling a long-held ambition to focus on his interest in motor racing.
The page also listed other Formula 1 stories: Fernando Alonso signing a new Aston Martin contract for 2027; his radio call before retiring from the Azerbaijan Grand Prix; Red Bull instructing Isack Hadjar not to pass Max Verstappen in an unbroadcast message; Lando Norris apologising to Franco Colapinto for saying he “shouldn’t be in Formula 1”; and Alpine condemning online abuse, which it said had “become a regular occurrence.”
