A single-vehicle crash on Deerfoot Trail near 17 Avenue S.E. caused lane closures and significant delays Friday. Calgary police said the collision happened in the northbound lanes shortly before 11:30 a.m. and appeared to involve a truck striking the centre concrete median. No one was injured.

Police said damage to the median would keep the far-left passing lanes closed in both directions between Memorial Drive and 17 Avenue S.E. for much of the day. The closures were expected to create major slowdowns, with police warning of “significant delays” for quite some time.

An earlier report said northbound Deerfoot Trail was closed at 17 Avenue S.E. and the two right-hand southbound lanes were also closed in the same area. A post on X from YYC Transportation showed several vehicles stopped on the road beside a light-coloured substance. The incident was developing, with more information to follow as it became available.
