Cochrane RCMP arrested a man in connection with threats against a woman and her daughter after an encounter earlier this month in Cochrane, Alta. Police were notified on Sept. 10 that the pair had been confronted by the man after leaving a local fast-food restaurant.

Mounties said the man threatened them, but did not disclose the nature of the threats or say what charges were laid. The incident generated significant public attention and discussion on social media, according to police. Officers identified and arrested the suspect.

RCMP said the individual was given access to supports and released on an undertaking. He is expected to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Cochrane on Oct. 10. Officials said the accused no longer lives in the town.
