The Town of Bowden, Alta., has called in Alberta’s Rat Patrol after a dead rat was found in the community. The town announced the discovery Thursday but did not say where the animal was found.

Bowden urged residents to watch for signs of rats and report them to Rat Patrol Alberta. “If you’ve noticed rat droppings or any signs of rats, please contact Rat Patrol Alberta so they can follow up,” the town said in a statement. “Please stay alert and report any sightings.”

Residents can report rats by calling 310-FARM or emailing rats@gov.ab.ca. Alberta is known for its promise of being Canada’s only rat-free province. The province’s Rat Patrol has been asked to investigate the Bowden discovery.
