A de-ethanizer used in natural gas processing will travel between Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan, potentially delaying traffic in central Alberta over two days, the province says. The move is scheduled to start in Dacro at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The load weighs 1.65 million pounds and measures 7.7 metres wide, 10.5 metres high and 96.6 metres long. It will occupy the full highway width, including the shoulder, and travel on trailers with 448 wheels, accompanied by guide vehicles. Its maximum speed is 30 km/h.

The province’s route schedule lists an overnight move on Day 1, Aug. 12, followed by an off-duty day on Aug. 13. The Day 3 move is scheduled for 2 a.m. on Aug. 14. Drivers can call 511 for current road information and traffic delays.
