Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Ontario Premier Doug Ford are scheduled to meet on stage in downtown Calgary on Monday to discuss how Canada can get its natural resources to market amid shifting politics and conflicts around the world.

Energy is central to Smith’s government agenda, including her push to move more oil to British Columbia’s coast and onward to Asian markets. The discussion comes as Canada faces an ongoing tariff war with the United States.

Smith has rejected using oil as leverage in the tariff dispute with U.S. President Donald Trump. Ford has publicly said he disagrees that oil should be off the table. However, Ford and Smith agree that more oil should flow within Canada.
