Four people have been charged after an RCMP investigation into a Calgary crime network that police say traded millions of dollars’ worth of illegal tobacco, drugs and stolen property. The federal RCMP’s integrated money laundering investigative team (IMLIT) laid fraud, money laundering and contraband-related charges following the investigation.

Police executed seven search warrants in Calgary and Airdrie. The seizures included $3 million in contraband tobacco, drugs and stolen property, according to the report.

Those charged are Johnathan Patrick Roach, 42, of Calgary; Brock Anthony MacQuarrie, 41, of Calgary; David Shoa Guan, 52, of Calgary; and Jason Douglas Pereira, 44, of Airdrie. All four were arrested in early September and are expected to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on Oct. 19.

The RCMP described the operation as a bust of a large Calgary crime network. The report did not specify the quantities of tobacco or drugs seized, or detail the stolen property.
