Edmonton police are seeking information to identify two men seen on surveillance footage fighting with a man shortly before an assault in the city’s west end. The victim suffered significant head injuries and remained in hospital as of Wednesday, several weeks after the incident.

Officers responded just before 3 a.m. on Aug. 31 to a report of an injured man near 174 Street and 77 Avenue. Emergency Medical Services took him to hospital. Investigators later found footage showing the victim and two other men in a fight before the assault.

One man had a slim build and ear-length dark hair. He wore a black or grey hooded jacket with a reflective stripe across the back, similar to a construction vest, over a white shirt, with black pants, black shoes and white socks. The second wore a black hoodie and black pants. Police believe both men removed their jackets shortly after the assault.

Anyone who can identify the men or provide other details is asked to call Edmonton police at 780-423-4567.
