Habitat for Humanity Edmonton and local builder Rohit Homes have completed seven affordable townhomes in the Glenridding Ravine area of southwest Edmonton’s Windermere neighbourhood. Applications for the newly built homes are active online.
Habitat’s homeownership program supports prospective buyers who have stable employment but face financial barriers to entering the housing market. Buyers can purchase a home with no cash down payment, with mortgage payments calculated using 50 per cent of the home’s appraised fair market value. They are responsible for ongoing ownership costs and build equity over time.
The program is “designed to help them progress into conventional market homeownership when they are ready,” a Habitat media release said. Rohit Homes belongs to a real estate group that has operated in Edmonton since 1986 and has since expanded across Canada.
