CTV News Edmonton has reported:

Supporters and opponents of Alberta’s place in Canada have rallies planned for the final weekend before voters head to the polls Monday. The vote will determine whether the province stays in Canada or proceeds to a second, binding referendum on leaving. Events are planned in Edmonton, including at the legislature.

The final week has featured last-minute appeals. Prime Minister Mark Carney completed a two-day tour of Alberta to rally support for staying in Canada. Premier Danielle Smith has also said she will vote to remain in the country.

Smith pointed to recent joint agreements with Ottawa, including a plan to fast-track a new oil pipeline, as evidence that a united country can get things done. The Canadian Press first published its report on Oct. 17, 2026.
