OilersNation and Google News have reported:
The Edmonton Oilers expect several injured players to return soon, with Zach Hyman set to play Saturday against the Utah Mammoth in Salt Lake City. Colton Dach and Jake Walman are also considered “very likely” to play, according to Daily Faceoff Edmonton’s Jason Gregor. The game is the rubber match between the Oilers and Mammoth.
Hyman’s appearance will be his second game of the season and ends a six-game absence. He played Edmonton’s season opener against Vancouver, then sat out because of a lingering issue dating to pre-season. Walman has missed three consecutive games with an injury believed to be to his upper body, giving Shakir Mukhamadullin a chance to play in his place.
Dach has not played since Oct. 3, when Edmonton faced the Seattle Kraken. If he returns Saturday, it will be after a two-week absence. He is currently on injured reserve, so the Oilers will need to make a roster move to activate him.
One possible move depends on Jason Dickinson, who left Thursday’s morning skate early. If he is not ready to play, Edmonton could place him on injured reserve retroactively, which would allow Josh Samanski to remain with the team rather than be sent down. Dickinson has played three games this season and appeared to still be working toward full speed.
Edmonton coach Mike Babcock addressed concerns about Dickinson’s ankle after a game, responding to a question from Edmonton Journal columnist Jim Matheson. “He’s not out because of the ankle, though, so I’m not concerned about his ankle. So we can put that to bed.” Taken at face value, Babcock’s comment would point to a new injury for Dickinson, rather than an ankle problem.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is on track to return next week. The Oilers expect him back either Thursday against Carolina or Saturday against Toronto. Dickinson is also expected to return during Edmonton’s homestand, though no specific date was provided.
Babcock said Tristan Jarry will start Saturday’s game against the Mammoth. The Oilers had Friday off before travelling to Salt Lake City, so no players spoke to the media in scrums that day.
Gregor shared the injury update on Oct. 16, 2026. Dach’s expected return would require a corresponding roster decision, while the timing of Dickinson’s return and the nature of the injury keeping him out remain unclear.
