CTV News Edmonton has reported:

Air Canada will start direct flights from Edmonton to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on June 1, connecting Alberta’s capital with the New York metropolitan region. The service will operate four times a week until Oct. 17, with departures from Edmonton at 6 a.m. and arrivals at 12:30 p.m. local time.

The airline said the route marks Edmonton’s first connection to New York City since the pandemic and described it as a “significant win” for northern Alberta. Newark Liberty, identified by the airport code EWR, serves the New York metropolitan region.

“This route opens the door to one of the world’s most important business, financial and cultural centres, creating new opportunities for tourism and trade while making it easier for people and businesses to connect,” said James Jackson, Edmonton International Airport’s vice-president of air service and business development. Jackson made the remarks in a Friday press release.
