CTV News Calgary has reported:
Calgary will bring back water restrictions on Nov. 4 for about four weeks as construction on the Bearspaw South feeder main nears completion. The city announced Thursday that residents will be asked to follow stage 4 outdoor restrictions and conserve water indoors. The measures also cover Airdrie, Chestermere, Strathmore and Tsuut’ina Nation.
Outdoor water use will be prohibited. Indoors, residents are encouraged to run dishwashers and laundry machines only with full loads, flush toilets only when needed and limit showers to three minutes.
City crews are preparing to connect the new feeder main to Calgary’s existing water system. The connection is “one of the final steps of installation” for the main feeder main, the city said in a news release. After the connection, crews can begin the final work required to put the new pipe into service.
Repairs began earlier this year after the problematic pipeline suffered two catastrophic breaks since June 2024. The city said the project “remains on track” for completion by the end of the year.
