RaceFans has reported:
Lance Stroll won his final race before becoming a Formula 1 driver 10 years ago today, taking victory in the season-ending triple-header at the Hockenheimring. The Canadian was just two weeks short of his 18th birthday, and his promotion to Williams for the 2017 F1 season had already been announced.
Stroll had secured the European Formula 3 championship earlier in the season and had won each of the two races preceding the finale. For his last outing with Prema, he started fourth on the grid, behind Joel Eriksson, Jake Hughes and Callum Ilott.
Several other future F1 drivers were also on the grid. Nikita Mazepin started 10th, Zhou Guanyu 13th and George Russell 15th. Anthoine Hubert, who died in a Formula 2 crash in 2019, lined up seventh.
The race was Stroll’s most recent victory to date, according to the source. It came during a title-winning weekend for Red Bull drivers, and Stroll ended the season on a high with the win.
