Past experiences do not stay neatly in the past. They shape what we expect, what we fear and how we interpret the person in front of us. One painful relationship can quietly become “all men are like this” or “all women will do that.” The goal is not to enter a relationship perfectly healed.
It is to know what you are carrying, take responsibility for working on it and be honest when those patterns begin to surface. A healthy partner should not be expected to fix your wounds. But they should be allowed to understand them.
Real intimacy begins when two people can say: “This is something I struggle with. I am aware of it, and I am working on it.” #Relationships #Healing #SelfAwareness #Trauma #Communication
