Phys.org has reported:

A new spectroscopy method enables direct comparisons of nuclear sizes across heavy elements. Nuclear size, measured as the nuclear charge radius, reflects how protons and neutrons are arranged within a nucleus.

Examining changes in charge radius can deepen understanding of nuclear structure and deformation, particularly in deformed nuclei such as those of rare-earth elements.
