OilersNation and Google News have reported:

Edmonton Oilers centre Jason Dickinson limped off the ice during Thursday’s morning skate, putting his status for that night’s game against the Utah Mammoth in doubt. He left midway through the session and appeared uncomfortable, according to posts from reporters at the rink. The Oilers and Dickinson had not confirmed whether he would play.

Dickinson has appeared in three games this season and recorded one assist. His playing time has been limited compared with last season as he continues to recover from an ankle injury sustained near the end of the 2025-26 campaign. His early departure could reflect a temporary setback, but the available information did not establish whether he had aggravated the injury.

OilersNation columnist Michael Menzies cited Jason Gregor’s post on X, in which Gregor said Dickinson’s availability was uncertain after leaving the skate. “Ankles can get tweaked, and he was in discomfort leaving the ice. But that could be short-term, and he'll be fine, or he might have aggravated something again.” Mark Spector also posted video of Dickinson walking off during practice and credited Cory Blashill for the footage.

Dickinson had already missed Edmonton’s first few games after suffering a setback at training camp. When he returned, he said on Oct. 5 that his recovery had stalled over the summer. “If I’m being totally honest, I never quite got to 100 percent over the summer,” he said. “I was making jumps, but it felt like every jump I made, I would plateau for a couple of weeks. There was one where I just couldn’t make another jump, so I spent a month trying to figure out what wasn’t working, what I was compensating for, and why I wasn’t getting the reactions I needed out of my ankle. We spent a good month here figuring that out.”

Several other Oilers remain unavailable. Zach Hyman is set to miss his sixth consecutive game, while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will have to wait longer to make his season debut. Jake Walman is expected to miss his third straight game with an upper-body injury, and Colton Dach remains on injured reserve after being placed there last Wednesday. Atro Leppanen is still technically on the roster but is injured after blocking a shot in the pre-season.

If Dickinson cannot play, Max Jones could return to the lineup. Jones has played four games this season and last appeared against the Anaheim Ducks, recording 7:21 of ice time. Edmonton is scheduled to face Utah twice in succession, with a rematch on Saturday in Salt Lake City.

Menzies, who wrote the OilersNation update, is a columnist and co-host of Pregaming and Postgaming. He has been the play-by-play voice of the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the AJHL since 2019 and has seven years of news experience as Editor-at-Large of Lakeland Connect in Bonnyville. The article also carried a LeaseBusters promotion describing the company as Canada’s premier lease takeover marketplace. It said sellers can connect with qualified buyers to take over vehicle leases, helping them avoid costly penalties or negative equity, while buyers can obtain shorter commitments and potentially lower monthly payments; dealerships retain replacement customers and leasing companies keep contracts active. The promotion described this as “Four parties, four wins” and directed readers to www.LeaseBusters.com.
