CTV News Calgary has reported:

The Calgary Stampeders visit the B.C. Lions on Saturday night with their playoff hopes dependent on results elsewhere. Calgary is 8-9 and B.C. is 10-6; the teams have split their two previous meetings this season. A Lions victory would secure a home playoff game, while Calgary cannot clinch a berth with a win or be eliminated by a loss.

Calgary’s position follows a 33-28 loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last week, which gave Winnipeg the season series 2-1. If Calgary beats B.C., a three-team tie at 9-9 in the West Division could still leave the Stampeders out. The teams’ combined head-to-head records would put Winnipeg third at 3-2, Saskatchewan fourth at 2-2 and Calgary fifth at 2-3.

If Calgary and Saskatchewan finish with identical records, the Stampeders would rank ahead of the Riders on point differential. Calgary outscored Saskatchewan 74-71 in their head-to-head games. The Stampeders can also reach the playoffs with a loss to B.C., provided Saskatchewan, currently 8-8, loses both of its remaining regular-season games.

A Saskatchewan win in either of those games would end Calgary’s playoff chances. The Riders play Montreal on Saturday and Edmonton on Oct. 24. A Calgary loss or a Winnipeg win over Edmonton on Friday would secure a playoff berth for the Bombers, who are 12-4.

Edmonton can clinch first place in the West and home field for the division final on Nov. 7 by beating Winnipeg or Saskatchewan next week. The Elks would also take top spot if the Lions lose either of their final two regular-season games. If Edmonton finishes first, B.C. can clinch second place and host the West semifinal on Oct. 31 with another win or a Winnipeg loss.

Winnipeg has an outside chance to finish second if it ends the season tied with B.C., but would need to beat the Lions by 17 points in their final-week meeting. B.C. won the teams’ first game 35-19 at Princess Auto Stadium on July 30. The East Division playoff picture is settled: the Toronto Argonauts, at 9-7, will host the West’s fourth-place team in the Oct. 31 semifinal. The winner will visit Montreal, 13-3, on Nov. 7.

The Grey Cup is scheduled for Nov. 15 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. The Canadian Press first published this report on Oct. 15, 2026.
