CTV News Edmonton has reported:

An Edmonton tractor-trailer driver faces 12 charges following an Ontario Provincial Police traffic stop on Highway 11 east of Mattawa over the Thanksgiving weekend. The stop began around 9 a.m. on Oct. 11, after police clocked the truck travelling 115 km/h in a 90 km/h zone, OPP said in a news release Wednesday.

“During the investigation, officers determined the driver had been operating the commercial vehicle in contravention of multiple hours-of-service and record-keeping requirements,” OPP said. “The driver’s paper records indicated the trip from Kenora to North Bay had been completed in 12 hours.”

Among the charges are speeding, exceeding 13 hours of driving in a day, failing to take 10 hours off in a day, driving 16 hours since the last qualifying off-duty period, and falsifying, mutilating or defacing a record or document. Police said the driver’s carrier faces three charges. The tractor-trailer was placed out of service for 72 hours.
