CTV News Edmonton has reported:
A 54-year-old man has been charged in connection with the reported sexual assault of a child at an east Edmonton day home in 2022. Edmonton police say they believe there may be additional victims.
Police received a report of the alleged assault this month. The incident was reported at Shining Stars day home, a private, unlicensed facility near 50 Street and 101 Avenue. Police said the day home is not affiliated with other Edmonton childcare facilities sharing the same name.
Michael Doucette was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching. Police said Doucette lived at the day home and helped with childcare duties. The facility opened in 2011 and is no longer operating.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have been victimized by Doucette to call Edmonton police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
