Slashdot has reported:
Discovery+ has raised monthly prices for new subscribers, increasing its ad-free plan from $10 to $12 and its ad-supported plan from $6 to $7. The new rates took effect immediately for new customers, shortly after Paramount Skydance acquired Warner Bros. Discovery.
Existing subscribers will receive 30 days’ notice before the higher prices apply. The changes will begin with bills issued as of November 12. Discovery+ primarily offers unscripted programming, including reality shows and documentaries.
A Skydance spokesperson told Ars Technica that the price changes were in development before Discovery+ knew the merger’s closing date and were not planned in anticipation of the merger. The spokesperson said, “Discovery+'s prices are regularly evaluated to ensure that they are in line with the content and experience that the service offers, and the new prices reflect that.”
The service has increased its prices three times since it launched in 2012. Before this latest change, the most recent increase came in January 2025, when monthly ad-supported subscriptions rose from $5 to $6 and ad-free plans increased from $9 to $10.
