Slashdot has reported:

Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to arrive on PC in the first quarter of 2027, only a few months after its planned console launch on Nov. 19, 2026, according to GamesBeat. Rockstar has not officially announced a PC version of the game.

The report follows Microsoft’s announcement last week that it had secured exclusive cloud-streaming rights to GTA VI. The Verge said at the time: “this deal will allow Xbox to market its Xbox Cloud Gaming service to PC players who would otherwise need an Xbox Series X / S or PS5 console.”

A first-quarter 2027 release would mark a faster PC rollout than for Grand Theft Auto V. That game launched on consoles in September 2013, while its PC version followed in April 2015, about a year and seven months later. The reported GTA VI window would put the PC edition just months behind the November 2026 console release.

Grand Theft Auto V’s audience is largely made up of console players, with PC users accounting for a small minority. GTA VI’s production budget is rumoured to exceed $2 billion, and a PC release could expand the audience for the sequel as Rockstar seeks to monetize it.

The potential value of a quicker PC release also extends to online play. Rockstar has signalled plans to add user-generated content creation tools to GTA VI. In August 2023, the company acquired Cfx.re, the development team behind FiveM, a prominent Grand Theft Auto V roleplaying server company.

That acquisition indicated Rockstar sees online roleplaying as part of GTA’s future. PC players could contribute to the game’s audience for those activities, though the company has not confirmed a PC release date or formally announced the version.
