The War Zone has reported:
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) and Hanwha Aerospace completed simulated battlefield operations with the Mojave short take-off and landing drone in South Korea on September 16. The trials were part of a Defense Drone Technology Exhibition at the Seungjin Training Field in Pocheon-si.
The Mojave operated from an austere short runway and flew at low level. The flying trials demonstrated its ability to use terrain masking to avoid potential threats and support ground forces at close quarters.
At the AUSA 2026 trade event in Washington, D.C., held this week, The War Zone’s Jamie Hunter spoke with Matt Petraitis, GA-ASI’s senior manager of U.S. Army programs. They discussed how the Mojave landed on a rough manoeuvre trail typically used by tanks and artillery vehicles, as well as the company’s plans for the drone in partnership with Hanwha Aerospace.
