CTV News Calgary and CTV News Edmonton have reported:

Seventeen of Alberta’s 311 advance voting locations were affected by technical problems on Tuesday, delaying their opening and leading Elections Alberta to extend their hours. The affected stations will stay open later to provide the full advertised service period. The Edmonton Gold Bar location will close at 8:20 p.m. and the Manning location at 8:07 p.m.; Elections Alberta posted a full list of adjusted closing times online.

“Late openings were due to various and separate technology issues that have been resolved,” Elections Alberta said in a statement. Advance voting runs from Oct. 13 to 17 for Albertans qualified to vote in next week’s referendum.

In Calgary, lineups formed at many polling stations Tuesday morning. Some voters were expected to wait about an hour and a half, while others could face longer waits. Voters may use any location in their electoral division if they have not already voted by mail, and must bring identification showing their address. Calgary voters can check their voter information card or the Elections Alberta website for locations. Those who miss advance voting must attend their assigned station on Oct. 19, listed on their “where to vote” card.
