CTV News Edmonton has reported:
Alberta is offering rural and remote households a one-time rebate of up to $1,000 to help pay for satellite internet. The province announced the Alberta Satellite Rebate Program on Tuesday for households that cannot access broadband internet.
The rebate covers satellite internet hardware, installation and applicable taxes, up to the $1,000 limit. To qualify, purchases must be made from an authorized dealer between Aug. 11, 2026, and March 31, 2027. Households can check eligibility and find program details on the Government of Alberta’s website, and applications must be submitted by March 31, 2027.
“Satellite technology has changed what’s possible for rural connectivity, and this rebate makes sure cost isn’t what stands between rural Alberta households and getting online,” said Nate Glubish, minister of technology and innovation.
Rural Municipalities of Alberta president Kara Westerlund said: “Reliable internet access is essential for rural Albertans, and many households still face barriers to connectivity that existing federal and provincial initiatives have not been able to solve. The Alberta Satellite Rebate Program provides another pathway for those residents to get connected.”
