Slashdot has reported:

No Man’s Sky will arrive on iPhone and iPad on Oct. 28, more than a decade after its troubled launch and subsequent turnaround. The game will cost $19.99, and players can use a free trial before deciding whether to buy it. It will run on iPhone 11 and newer devices, as well as the third-generation iPad Air and later.

The iOS release includes the content and systems updates added over the years, including expansions that helped turn the game’s early reception into a widely praised comeback. Its graphics may not match the most advanced AAA games, though they have improved since launch. Ars Technica highlighted the game’s ability to generate enormous galaxies on a device, consistently using a single seed for all players, as a notable technical feat on a phone.

Some features will be restricted. Hello Games says players can build and explore settlements created by other players only on iPhone 15 Pro models and later. Multiplayer will not be available on any iOS device, in a release that shares some compromises with the Nintendo Switch version.

The developer said it will use player response to guide its ongoing support for the mobile release. “We are excited to see player feedback on iOS, and will support it appropriately based on how many folks are playing,” the company said. Its statement leaves open the possibility that future content updates may not all come to iOS if the number of players does not justify continued support.

No Man’s Sky first launched more than 10 years ago and later gained a reputation as a redemption story through its updates and expansions. The iOS version brings that expanded game to Apple phones and tablets, while excluding multiplayer and limiting settlement features to newer iPhones.
