CTV News Edmonton and Global News Edmonton have reported:

About 310 advance polling stations opened across Alberta Tuesday in a historic referendum on the province’s place in Canada. Voters are to mark an X on ballots containing 10 questions, with Elections Alberta preparing for a record turnout.

The first nine questions concern Canada’s Constitution and immigration. The 10th, and most contested, asks whether voters want Alberta to remain in Canada or hold a second, binding vote on leaving Confederation.

The official voting day is Monday. Results on the separation question are scheduled for the following day, Oct. 20. The Canadian Press report carried by CTV News Edmonton was first published Oct. 13, 2026.
