Slashdot has reported:

Amazon is in talks to acquire AI startup Decart in a deal that could value the company at up to $7 billion, according to a report first published by The Wall Street Journal. Decart makes software that could help Amazon Web Services as it promotes its own Trainium chips, and another suitor could still make a higher offer.

Decart’s DOS software helps developers optimize neural networks for particular processors, speeding up AI training and inference workloads. Developers generally need to adapt a network to the chip on which it will run. That work previously took months, but DOS can reduce the process to a couple of weeks, allowing companies to move workloads to different processors when their needs change or chip supplies become an issue.

The company also develops AI models. Its Lucy and Oasis world models are designed to generate and simulate realistic three-dimensional environments for video games, robotic training and other uses.

Anthropic PBC was reportedly in discussions to buy Decart last month, according to Bloomberg. It later withdrew from a reported $6 billion deal after conducting due diligence on the startup. The reason Anthropic decided not to proceed was not clear. The earlier talks leave open the possibility that another buyer could pursue Decart and outbid Amazon.
