RaceFans has reported:
Max Verstappen won the Singapore Grand Prix for the first time on Oct. 11, 2026, after controlling the race from the start and finishing more than seven seconds ahead of Charles Leclerc. Leclerc tried to pass at Turn 1, but Verstappen held his position and pulled away from the Ferrari drivers.
Ferrari began the race with split tyre strategies. Leclerc started on soft tyres, as Verstappen did, while Lewis Hamilton began on mediums. Hamilton lacked pace early and pitted before his team-mate, leaving him in a difficult position for the second half of the race.
A Virtual Safety Car period later in the race gave Leclerc an opportunity to make a second pit stop. Hamilton stayed out, and his tyres lost performance over the final laps. Lando Norris and Andrea Kimi Antonelli closed in; Hamilton initially held off Norris, which allowed Antonelli to pass the McLaren driver. Hamilton then lost places to both rivals, before Oscar Piastri passed him on the run to Turn 16 on the penultimate lap. Hamilton finished sixth.
Antonelli secured the final podium place despite a brief brake-overheating issue and several track-limits infringements. Norris and Piastri completed the top five. George Russell, who started 19th, made steady progress during his opening stint and looked set to secure seventh when a second Virtual Safety Car period coincided with his pit stop. Race control cancelled the period as he pitted, and he lost three positions to Liam Lawson, Nico Hulkenberg and Pierre Gasly. Russell passed Gasly later but finished ninth behind Lawson and Hulkenberg.
Gasly had held the final points position, but Isack Hadjar took it after a long drive from the pit lane. Alpine had a difficult afternoon: Franco Colapinto was among three drivers who retired. Gabriel Bortoleto and Lance Stroll also failed to finish, with each retirement triggering a Virtual Safety Car period. Bortoleto’s Audi briefly caught fire in the pit lane after he stopped with a clutch problem.
Hamilton apologised to Ferrari for the strategy call after finishing sixth. The race report also listed a vote for the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix Driver of the Weekend, the race result and championship points, and a race-rating feature.
