Phys.org has reported:

Researchers from the University of Tokyo, University of Glasgow, University of Sheffield and Kobe University used light to detect the magnetic spin of electrons trapped inside a porous crystal. The team said it was the first time this had been achieved in a metal-organic framework, or MOF.

The international collaboration’s work could lead to a new generation of quantum sensors, according to the researchers.
