Phys.org has reported:
Liquid-to-fibre formation is important in nature and industry, from spiders spinning webs to textile manufacturing. Yet predicting the properties of the resulting fibres remains challenging.
Fibres are often much thinner than the nozzle used to extrude a polymer or solution. Their thickness and strength are ultimately shaped by factors including temperature, flow conditions and chemical reactions.
