Sherwood Park News has reported:

Residents have several local events to choose from during Thanksgiving weekend in Strathcona County, including a medieval market, an India-focused film event and a live show about Nirvana. The weekend is quieter than usual, with activities scheduled around holiday feasts and festivities.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, Strathcona County Museum and Archives will continue Spooky Strathma Medieval Days with the Makers of the Realm Medieval Market. Local vendors will be inside the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., where visitors can browse, explore a trinket trading post and see the Medieval Days exhibit. The exhibit highlights the Sherwood Park festival, which ran from 1964 to 1967, and admission to the market is by donation.

Festival Place will host a red carpet and welcome ceremony at 5 p.m. on Oct. 10 to launch the 12th India Film Festival of Alberta. The event features a live performance by Colors of Nagaland and a screening of “Headhunting to Beatboxing: A Musical Renaissance.” The evening aims to bring cultures and communities together through film. The Story of Nirvana with El Niven is scheduled at Festival Place on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. The multimedia production combines live music with an exploration of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana, from Seattle’s early grunge scene through chart-topping success and Cobain’s death. It looks beyond “Smells Like Teen Spirit” at the rise of one of the decade’s defining bands. Tickets are listed at festivalplace.ca/events/the-story-of-nirvana.
