CTV News Calgary has reported:
Three horses died and another was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 1 about 40 kilometres east of Revelstoke, B.C., on Tuesday. The collision happened at 8:45 a.m., when a 73-year-old woman from Langdon, Alta., lost control of her vehicle while towing a trailer carrying four horses and struck a rock wall, RCMP said.
“The driver did not appear to have any serious injuries, but three of the four horses died, and the fourth horse required medical attention,” RCMP said in a statement to CTV News. The driver received a ticket for failing to keep to the right-hand side of the road, an offence carrying a $109 fine.
“It’s an offence that is written when a driver fails to maintain their lane position and drives off the road (in this case, off road to the right),” RCMP said. Revelstoke is about 415 kilometres west of Calgary and 640 kilometres east of Vancouver.
