CTV News Edmonton has reported:

Evan Bouchard scored twice and had an assist as the Edmonton Oilers overcame a sluggish start and beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-2 on Wednesday night in Anaheim, Calif. Edmonton scored five goals in the second period to earn its third straight win, while Anaheim lost for the first time in three games.

Bouchard became the second defenceman in NHL history to score at least six goals through the first four games of a season. His six goals lead the league. Harry Cameron scored eight times in four games for the Toronto Arenas during the NHL’s inaugural 1917-18 season. Bouchard also became the fifth defenceman in league history with at least 10 points through four games; Morgan Rielly last did so for the Maple Leafs in 2018-19.

Bouchard began Edmonton’s second-period rally with a long wrist shot through traffic 11 seconds into the frame, cutting Anaheim’s lead to 2-1. He put the Oilers ahead 3-2 on a one-timer from Leon Draisaitl with 5:48 remaining in the period. Draisaitl finished with four assists, while Connor McDavid had a goal and two assists, and Kasperi Kapanen and Vasily Podkolzin also scored.

McDavid capped the five-goal period with his third goal and 12th point of the season, scoring with 51.7 seconds left during four-on-four play. Beckett Sennecke scored twice on the power play in the first period, after recording one power-play goal in 82 games as a rookie. Leo Carlsson had two assists for the Ducks.

Devon Levi stopped 28 shots for Edmonton. Lukas Dostal made 12 saves for Anaheim, but allowed six goals on 11 shots in the decisive second period and was replaced to start the third. Ville Husso made two saves in relief.

Ducks winger Nikita Klepov, the No. 15 pick in the 2026 draft, made his NHL debut. At 18 years and 102 days old, he became the youngest player in franchise history. The Oilers are scheduled to visit San Jose on Saturday, while the Kings are set to play in Winnipeg on Friday night.
