An 18-year-old from Yorkton, Sask., has been charged with terrorism-related offences after an investigation by the RCMP’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) in Alberta. The investigation began Sept. 24 after police received a report about a Telegram user who allegedly posted videos depicting real-world activity as a member of the 764 Network, which Canada designated a terrorist entity in December 2025.
Police found the user was also referenced in numerous 764-related chatrooms on Discord and Telegram. The teen faces charges of participating in the activity of a terrorist group, facilitating terrorist activity and committing an offence for a terrorist group, under multiple sections of the Criminal Code. The teen was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in Yorkton provincial court on Tuesday.
Police say 764 targets children and teens through online gaming platforms, social media and mobile apps, including Discord, Telegram, Roblox and Minecraft. Authorities allege the group seeks to manipulate and recruit young people by distributing propaganda and encouraging violence online and offline. Some teens use mobile apps such as Discord, Telegram or other encrypted platforms that can prevent parents from seeing their activity.
The RCMP says the group coerces youth into acts involving child sexual abuse and exploitation, self-harm and the torture of animals. Advocates have identified possible warning signs including falling grades, excessive moodiness, being on edge and increasing isolation. The RCMP has urged parents to monitor their children’s online activity and report suspicious behaviour to police.
The case follows other Canadian investigations into alleged links between teens and the network. A 17-year-old from Lethbridge was arrested Sept. 3 and accused of terrorism-related crimes, offences involving child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and animal cruelty. The RCMP said that teen was allegedly involved with 764. A 15-year-old in Alberta was arrested last year on similar offences; police alleged the Edmonton-area teen was planning crimes related to the network.
The RCMP has also pursued adults accused of trying to coerce youth. In April, a 26-year-old man from Quebec City was arrested on terrorism-related charges after an investigation into alleged online activity linked to 764. Police said he promoted the group’s violent ideology through a Telegram channel, publishing graphic and disturbing material intended to engage and recruit others. The latest investigation was conducted by the Alberta INSET.
