A 32-year-old woman from Athabasca County has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 42-year-old Kevin Witney, whose death north of Boyle, Alta., was ruled a homicide. Police responded to a report of a deceased man at a rural property on Sept. 28, after which the death was considered suspicious. An autopsy determined Witney’s death was a homicide.

The woman was charged on Sunday in connection with Witney’s death. She is scheduled to appear in court in Boyle on Oct. 13. Boyle is about 150 kilometres north of Edmonton.

Police have not provided further details about the circumstances of the death or the accused in the information reported. The charge follows the investigation into the death reported last month. The source report identifies Witney as 42 and says the woman is 32 and from Athabasca County.
