Alberta Medical Association members have ratified a proposed three-year master pay deal with the provincial government, the association and government said. In a letter to members, association president Dr. Heidi Fell said 22 per cent of eligible members voted, with 76 per cent of those voters supporting the agreement. The Canadian Press report was first published Oct. 6, 2026.

Fell said the deal was not what physicians had originally sought and followed mediation in a “difficult and constrained bargaining environment.” She said it provides a three-year framework and stability, along with meaningful gains for doctors.

Hospitals Minister Adriana LaGrange said the agreement offers fair, competitive compensation while keeping the health-care system sustainable. The government and the association, which represents physicians, said they will share details of the agreement once it is finalized.
