Sherwood Park’s Chuba Hubbard delivered his best performance of the season Sunday night, rushing for 122 yards and two touchdowns to help the Carolina Panthers earn a 32-26 victory over the Detroit Lions. The six-foot-one, 210-pound running back carried the ball 20 times, averaging 6.1 yards per attempt, and added a seven-yard reception as Carolina improved to 2-2 on the season.

Hubbard’s performance was a key factor in the Panthers’ offensive success. While quarterback Bryce Young threw for 329 yards and two touchdowns, the ground game found its rhythm behind Hubbard’s hard running and ability to gain yards after contact. The 27-year-old reached a significant milestone during the game, surpassing former Panthers star Christian McCaffrey on the franchise’s all-time rushing list.

The accomplishment came during a season-high outing that showcased the consistency Hubbard has brought to Carolina’s backfield. The victory moved Carolina into a share of first place in the NFC South with a 2-2 record after four weeks of play. Through four games this season, Hubbard has rushed for 306 yards and three touchdowns while averaging five yards per carry.

He has also caught 10 passes for 84 yards and two more touchdowns. If this pace is kept up, Hubbard could make 2026 the best season of his NFL career. The Panthers are next in action Oct. 18 when they travel to face the Philadelphia Eagles.
