Sherwood Park News has reported:
Tyler King, a former employee of the Okotoks Oilers Hockey Association, faces five charges after an RCMP investigation into allegations he solicited and paid minor hockey players for intimate images and sexual videos. Police identified three victims under 18, and said the case involved multiple victims from Alberta and Saskatchewan who played minor hockey.
The investigation began in June 2024 after an association employee raised concerns about a former colleague. The Southern Alberta District General Investigation Section took over the case in July 2024. King, 39, is a Canadian citizen who lives and works in the United States.
King was arrested Oct. 30 in Ontario’s Lansdowne/Kingston area. He is charged with three counts of luring a person under 18, one count of sexual exploitation of a young person and one count of making child pornography. After a judicial interim release hearing, he was remanded into custody and is expected to be returned to Alberta to answer the charges.
RCMP said King has worked with hockey teams in Fort McMurray, Okotoks, Brooks, Nanaimo and Ontario, and at a university in the United States. Police believe there may be additional victims and are asking anyone who believes they were victimized to contact their local police service. The allegations have not been tested in court.
